Facilities at Ly Outdoor Camp

– in the middle of nature near Silkeborg

We want the camp to feel homely and cozy – whether you stay in a tent, cabin or camper. Our facilities are located in older buildings that we have carefully painted and updated. They are simple, functional and clean, and with plants, colors on the walls and small nice details we have made an effort to create a setting where you can land and feel at home.

Café and information

– arrival, check-in, coffee, stay

The café and information area is a quiet gathering point at Ly Outdoor Camp. This is where you are welcomed upon arrival, checked in and out – and is often the first place you land when you arrive.

The area also functions as an informal living space, where there is room for both breaks and everyday life during your stay. The atmosphere is relaxed, and you are welcome to linger.

In the café and information area you can:

  • report your arrival and check out again
  • buy a cup of barista coffee or chai latte
  • settle down with a book or do some work on the computer
  • play games, play with some toys or just take a break
  • buy snacks, local ice cream and cold drinks
  • get tourist information, inspiration for attractions and experiences in the area

Breakfast bread in high season

During the high season, you can order freshly baked breakfast bread from Lagkagehuset – a simple and cozy way to start the day. Orders can be placed in the café or via the customer app before 20 p.m., and the bread can be picked up in the café the next morning.

Service buildings

– toilets, shower, family bathroom, laundry, communal kitchen

At Ly Outdoor Camp, we have two service buildings that cover the practical needs during your stay - regardless of whether you are staying in a tent, cabin or camper.

The small service building is located by Hyttebyen and contains:

  • toilets
  • family bathroom

The large service building contains:

  • toilets and bathrooms
  • baby room with changing tables and bathing facilities
  • laundry room with washing machine and dryer
  • shared kitchen with hotplates and ovens
  • small freezer for cooling elements

The service buildings are part of the camp's common framework and are designed to function simply and practically in everyday life.

Common areas and community

– common area, community house, outdoor kitchen, grill, bonfire

At Ly Outdoor Camp, the common areas are designed for socializing, meals and outdoor living. The common area, the community house and the outdoor kitchen are located together and make it easy to be together – both indoors and outdoors.

Common space serves as the camp's gathering point and is located between the café, the playground and the outdoor kitchen. Here you can meet for dinner, coffee and chat while the children play. In the high season, the space is also used for smaller events such as music, bonfires and long table dinners.

Next to the common area is the community house, which allows you to move in. There are tables and chairs here, and the house can be booked for smaller events such as family lunches or children's birthday parties.

The covered outdoor kitchen and barbecue area is located in the extension of the common area and the community house and offers:

  • gas burner and sink
  • dining area
  • communal barbecue
  • fire pit

The communal house can be booked for 600 DKK for six hours plus regular guest fee per person. Dedicated kitchen facilities can be purchased for an additional 600 DKK. Contact us for more information.

Events and get-togethers

During the summer high season, we often organize small community events in the common area. This could be live music in the evenings, a bonfire with space for socializing, or communal dining at the long tables.

When there are no organized activities, the common area is still yours. Here you can meet up at random, light a fire, pull out your guitar, and let the evening take shape at your own pace – exactly as it suits you.

Games and experiences for children

– playground, bouncy castles, nature activities

There must be room for children and their often impressive energy levels – and there is at Ly Outdoor Camp. The playground and bouncy castles are right next to the common area, so adults can sit close by with coffee and chat while the children play.

The playground offers:

  • sandbox
  • climbing castle
  • swing set
  • roller coaster

Next to the playground are two bouncy pillows – one large and one smaller – which quickly become a natural gathering point for children of all ages. They are located close to the common area, so adults can easily follow along from the sidelines.

Exploring nature

When a little quieter activity is needed, the children can borrow the booklet Fun and cool nature in the café. They are part of the Danish Nature Conservation Society's project 99 species and contains small tasks and knowledge about nature. We also have nature bingo sheets, terrariums and fishing nets – a fun way to explore the surroundings. Who will find an earthworm first?

Creative family activities

During the summer high season, we regularly invite you to small family activities where both children and adults can join in. These can be carving workshops, bead workshops, drawing and painting activities or other creative projects where there is room for reflection and shared enjoyment. The activities are intended as informal breaks at a leisurely pace – with a focus on presence, creativity and time together across ages.

On the water in kayaks, canoes and SUPs

– Kayakomat, canoe rental, Silkeborg Lakes

With direct access to the water, it is an obvious choice to experience Silkeborg from the water, and in the café we are always ready with maps of the lakes and good advice if you need to be pointed in the direction of a beautiful route or a special destination.

  • kayak
  • tandem kayak
  • SUP board

From Kayakomat it is approximately 100 meters to the water's edge and free access to the Silkeborg Lakes. Rental and booking is done directly via Kayakomat Silkeborg.

Cycling and shopping in the local area

– bicycle service, shopping bikes and guided bike tours

It should be easy to get around and handle practical matters during your stay. That's why we offer simple bicycle service and shopping bicycles, so that both the bicycle and supplies are quickly ready for the next trip in the local area.

Bicycle service

We do not have a permanent bicycle service station, but we provide the following:

  • water hose for cleaning bicycles
  • pump
  • different tools

Perfect if the bike has been on an adventure in the forest and needs a loving hand.

Shopping bikes

As we do not sell groceries at the camp and only offer breakfast bread during the high season, our guests can borrow a shopping bike. It is quick and easy to cycle to:

  • Rema 1000 on Lyngbygade
  • SuperBrugsen on Søtorvet
  • Føtex on the Square
  • Brandt Bread on Søtorvet

Come into the café and borrow the key.

Guided bike tours in Silkeborg's forests

During the high seasons, we strive to invite camp guests on guided bike tours in the forests around Silkeborg. The tours are MTB and gravel friendly and are intended as shared experiences, where the pace is adjusted to the participants, and nature is at the center. We advertise the guided tours on our social channels and on the board outside the café, where you can keep an eye on times and registration.
